Last week, our PM (Project Manager — our human), told you about me, Emma Louise, and my sister, Petunia. She told you about how smart I am, and how clever I am, but she didn’t really tell you about my day to day contributions to the running of, well, of everything around here. Snickers, our senior member, is CEO, but I am the really cool second in command.
The great thing about us dogs, is that we have a lot to teach you humans. You don’t often give us credit for being able to do that, but we can. See, we don’t get clouded by all the crazy stuff humans pile on themselves. As a nation, we dogs are pretty single minded and direct about stuff.

What I bring to the household is common sense calm. I take care of myself. I look out for my housemates and our PM. I am present when I am needed. I am happy to chill out when I am not needed … and just ’cause I may be resting my eyes, don’t be fooled. I can turn on my doggie super powers in the blink of an eye.
Our PM is always in a flap about something. I like to show her that it is OK to slow down and take a nap. She doesn’t much listen. So to give her regular examples of how to take a break and just sleep in the moment, I have perfected napping.

So you see, human friends, take a break every once in a while. My advice – not that you are asking — but you need to figure out what you can change and what you can’t change. If you do what you can to change the things you can change, and you stop investing energy in the things you can’t change … you can take a nap every once in a while!

Words of wisdom from a very zen dog!

That Emma Louise is one smart cookie. It isn’t easy living with a dog that is more centered then I am!
