A Summer Day with my BFF …

Time flies,  even if you aren’t having fun … and suddenly I haven’t posted anything in 6 months!  Good and bad things have been happening, very few of them falling in the siesta or fiesta category.  In fact, I was 2 hours in to my work day last Monday … cleaning a toilet (yes, I am a housekeeper), and I happened to look down and catch a glimpse of my feet.  My brain did not process the vision … so I looked again … and yes

… in my haste to get out the door … well, what can I say!!  7 fellow workers didn’t notice either!

So I decided I needed a change of scenery.  And Snickers, the Chief Operating Officer that runs my household, needed a break too … so on a perfect summer day, we headed over to a friend’s farm for a little Fiesta/Siesta.

We headed for the Rapidan River ford. Snickers loves the water and he knows this crossing well, even though we haven’t visited in years.
I wadded and he puttered about. Water is our happy place!
What’s next buddy?
Come on …. I’ll show you!
What does one do with a super wet dog? Take a walk along the soy bean field.  That is Snickers way ahead of me — leading the charge.
And then it is off to pick corn for dinner.
We bid farewell at the gate — gazing on a beautiful field of sunflowers and knowing how lucky we are to have access to paradise.

In challenging times, it seems that things will never change.  It seems that patterns are impossibly set and that life will roll out as an endless path of the “same old, same old.”  I risk falling in to that place, and just taking an hour and a half for me and Snickers reminded me that living can be magic if we take time to do the things we enjoy … and savor them in the moment.  I keep being reminded that life is really very short — often it takes hindsight to realize how precious.  Grab the moments, my dears … those are the snapshots you will hold for a lifetime.

P.S. Thanks, Bill and Lindy, for letting us enjoy the wonders of Arrowpoint!

P.S.S.  Snicker’s snazzy collar that you can barely see was made by me and someday I hope to offer Fiesta/Siesta collars and leashes … one of those dreams I hang on to!
